Correct oil type for Ford Triton V10 engine

I have misplaced my vehicle maintenance schedule list with all my spec information on it. I believe the correct answer to my engine oil question is 10W-30. I do use Mobil I synthetic oil.

I appreciate your input. An oil change is not needed now but I would like to update my records for next time. How about the oil filter type?

Thanks

The owner's manual for Ford trucks of most all years are available on line. Since you didn't provide the year of your V-10, I can't provide a link to it directly. Your questions can be answered by downloading and reading the appropriate manual.

I believe it calls for 5W20, it should say on the fill cap.

The 2006 F53 I used to have specified 5W20 as rivraton said.

I do know that the 2003 and up use 5W20.

All the V 10's use 5W-20 oil. The earlier versions specified 5W-30, but that was changed in about 2003. If you were the original owner of an earlier version 2 valve per cylinder you should have gotten a letter from Ford with the specification change.

The online manuals reflect the specification change.

Our 2011 E-450 with the V-10 takes 5W-20 with a Motorcraft FL-820S Filter.

buzzyb, I had an 01 35U with the V-10. Bought it with 12K on the odometer, I immediately changed oil to the Mobil 1 10-30 with a NAPA Gold filter and drove it to 82K mi. and it never hiccuped one time. It was still running strong when I traded it. I am a bit anal on oil changes, and even tho it was the Mobil 1 synthetic, I changed it every 3K mi. since it only took 6 qts. I do all the oil changes myself, so the cost was insignificant compared to the mileage I got out of it.

Correct oil type for Ford Triton V10 engine

Ford says 5w-20 Motorcraft semisynthetic oil and Motorcraft FL-820 filter.

I use full synthetic Mobile One 5w-30 oil and Mobile One M1-210 oil filter. Changed annually.
