Coach Leveling

Don't know if this should go in the Winnebago or Workhorse Forum.
1: When setting up a rig such as ours, do you lower the jacks 1st then extend the slideouts or the reverse?
2: Our rig is sitting in our drive which I believe is pretty level, however I noticed that when I first lower the front and rear jacks(Kwikee), the RF jack is about 2 1/2in from touching. I usually place a 2x6 under it but was wondering if there is an adjustment to bring it into sync with the others?

When we bought our rig, we were carefully instructed to level the rig side-to-side first, then front-to-rear, then deploy slides. I can't imagine any situation where you would have any jack not touching ground unless you were in a spot where the fully extended jack cannot reach the ground (without using blocks).

I am sure some of the Voyage owners will respond.

You definitely want to level your MH before extending any slides...

Yes - in practically every case jacks down and coach level before slides come out.

The exception is if you are on a site or place where you can't level and have no options (like moving) - if you partially level the coach and wind up twisting the body, you will hear some very strange noises on slide extension. In this case, slides out first, then level as best you can. This is a rare exception though - we have only had to do this a couple of times while overnighting in an RV service shop's parking lot that was VERY unlevel.

I believe the rationale for leveling first, is that an out-of-level frame could cause the slides to bind (or worse) if the frame was twisted due to uneven ground.

Kwikee's website FAQs mention that if you use Auto-Mode to level, not all the jacks will necessarily touch the ground if the coach gets to a level position before they all hit dirt. If that happens, you can still use the manual buttons to extend the last jack to stabilize the coach.

I set the front the back levelers down manually until I feel them touch the ground then press automatic to complete the leveling before extending the slide. So far we continue to enjoy MHing.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think I have the automatic leveling on my 05 Voyage.
