Bathroom Vent Cover

Just picked up our 2014 meridian 34b and noticed that their is no outside cover for the bathroom vent fan. Is there supposed to be a cover over the vent to prevent rain from coming in?

Often not, check with Winnebago to be sure. The roof vent in the bathroom can be equipped with a rain sensor and motor to close it automatically or vent can be purchased and installed yourself. I found quickly that leaving this vent open when in motion tends to create a low pressure condition that causes more wind noise around windows and door and can draw smell from the black tank, especially if flushed.

Do you mean there is no open and closable cover over the vent screen (surely not) or do you mean there is no raised cover over the vent cover? If so, those are up to you.

They are not usually original equipment, but can be easily added and are not too expensive.
A very good idea if RVing where it often rains so the vent fan can stay running.

Safe travels

There isn't a cover - you can look straight through to daylight. There is some sort of wire mesh, but no cover, so the rain would just drop into the bathroom. I do have a vent cover over the main fan in the hallway.

46490, is it not like the picture I posted but your cover missing? This what the drawing for your coach shows. It is also what we have in our bathroom and there is suppose to be a round cover on the top. Kinda like the holding tank vent cover but a littler larger.

Is your vent like this (only without the cover)?

Holy missing roofvent, Batman!
If you can see from the interior straight to the sky, that is probably a typical crank-open roof vent...but the plastic lid had been lost. Here's a closer look, like the one above.

That needs to be repaired ASAP, or everything from fallings leaves to rain will come in the RV. The screen will only keep birds and bugs out

The plastic covers are very affordable...can be DIY repaired...or it's a quick repair by a RV shop.

Best luck

You've got a problem. Should be a cover as Scarab0088 posted.

Are you sure you're not looking through a clear cover. The cover on the Fantastic Vent in our bathroom is clear.

Thanks for the followup. It's always good to hear the outcome of a problem.

This is a Fantastic Vent? They have covers and are powered in most cases. Looking up do you see the round screen and a black knob? On the roof do you see a hing on the fan toward the front? Your cover could have been broken off. The dealer should replace it free of charge. If he won't check with Fantastic. They will send you a replacement free of charge. This is a good policy for the life of the coach.

What did I miss??? I still don't know what cover is being covered by the OP. Did he see sky all the time, fan on or not? Or did he want a Camco roof vent cover? What did he "pick up"? Did he pay for what should have been in place already?

What "attached drawing" from OP??

Yes I could see sky all of the time. It is not a powered vent (with a knob) to raise a cover. The fan is controlled by a wall mounted on/off switch. The local dealer gave me the new vent cover and I got up on the roof and installed it on the bolt stud that the missing cover had been secured to.

Well I think someone needed it more than I did. And the dealership isn't saying anything.
