Bad ceiling leak

We just purchased a Vectra 40AD with a known leak that has a large portion of the fabric hanging under the living room slider behind the Driver back towards the kitchen. We assumed we would be able to see where the water was coming in but can't, it is worse to the outside and back towards the kitchen. I am away from the RV now or I would post pics. The unit sat for several years before we bought it and the owner said it was fine when he parked it any suggestions
Thanks
Doug

Is the loose fabric on the ceiling of the slider or the ceiling of the motorhome itself?

There are some (many?) owners of this rig that have had issues with the vinyl ceiling material coming loose from the ceiling. In many of the situations, there apparently is a problem with the foam and its adhesion to the ceiling - and there is no water intrusion.
So...it may not be an actual leak, but rather the headliner pulling away.
Or it could be a leak.
It is my understanding (and we own an 04 40KD) the the 1-piece fiberglass roof is not especially prone to leaks.
Just something to consider. I would recommend a search here and on the irv2.com site, and you will see where others have had the headliner problem.

We have the Itasca version 40AD. I can tell you I've had both problems the main slide leaking and the vinyl falling down because of the heat deteriorating the foam.
As to the slide (drivers side) I got up one morning after a very bad storm, lots of wind and tons of rain. The galley was flooded to the point my iPhone was on the kitchen counter and was destroyed by the water. The vinyl was bulged and when I touched it it came down with like another gallon of water.
Once we got home, I took the slide topper off and ran a strip of EternaBond tape along the seams. This seems to have stopped the leaks.
Like your MH ours sat in the Florida sun for most of its life and I believe that was the cause of the vinyl pulling off the ceiling. For this you need to remove, clean and reapply. I posted a couple pictures here:

Hope this helps.
