I knew Chris would sneak in here with the proper info/paperwork/schematics/procedures. He always does. Chris, I was pretty sure there was/is a year break between the use of the two dryers but, it's been too long since that info was in my pea-brain. As usual, thanks a heap for re-entering it on here. My coach has a chassis production date of 10/03 so, I was just under the issuance of the newer model.

The DQ650 top filter looks a lot different from stock photos what I have due to the fins on top of the filter. Scott's dryer has a band around the top that can be tightened. My dryer has no band. Oh well anyway I'm going to pressure wash under there tomorrow and remove it and see what I have. Will keep the conversation here advised.

I suggest running the rears up on 6" solid wood ramps before bleeding off all air pressure. It gives you elbow room underneath, (for me it was room for my belly)

It's off and on the bench waiting for the kit to show up. Not as heavy as I though at first glance. The air lines didn't come apart as advertised. There is no number on the housing just made in usa. The filter has a number (kinda) 4253J not sure about the 4 but can read the rest of the numbers. Went to the Haldex site but couldn't find a number close to the one that's on the unit. There is a date on top from 2012 so it's due.

I had problems getting the lines off also. Must have been some dirt/grit in the slip ring you have to push back like Fire Up described. After several attempts, mine must have figured I wasn't going to give up and came off. Do you know which model dryer you have?

Here is what I have. I did find manufacture date and the other number by it on the housing. I'm having a problem with the pictures loading upside down. I guess there is no way to fix it here so I'll turn my camera around and see how that works....

Not sure what kind you have, but for the last 15 years all I have seen are spin-on style. Just be sure to bleed off all the air pressure before you spin the old one off.
If there's air pressure in the system you WON'T "spin" the filter off. You won't get it to move at all till you bleed the air or poke a hole in the case!

I just re-read my W Ultimate owners manual again this afternoon. It says the desiccant filter should be changed every 2 years.
Nothing about using the kit to rebuild everything. It does have some test procedures to determine if they are working, but I just browsed over them and don't remember it all. Something about purging the wet tank of all moisture, then running the engine(fuzzy part), then draining the wet tank again, if you get 2oz of more of water the desiccant filter is bad.

I agree that you should be very careful under an aired up coach. That said, there are check valves in the system that isolates the air bags from the air pressure in the tanks or back down the line to the air dryer. I've replaced my air dryer canister several times and I run the engine until the dryer purges then turn off the engine, drain the tanks, and remove the canister.

YES! Safety First is Priority. It's recommended that the wheels be chocked also.
Both my tanks were dry when I purged them. I also have a Schrader Valve on the dryer unit itself.

You do have the PURest air dryer like the one Chris and I showed in the pictures. It takes the Haldex DQ6050 Desiccant Cartridge Kit. The can doesn't spin off, but you remove the 4 bolts and bracket and just pull the can off.

Subscribed . Thanks for the heads up on this . Ill have to check mine on my new to me 2005 Winnebago Journey 34H I believe the PO had a spare in the coach . And have been meaning to check this out . Is just a filter change normally required ? And from what I have read , check for proper heater operation . As the underside of my coach is almost as clean as new ,

Yes and the lower kit also. I talked to Freightliner and they gave me the part numbers they have and then called Haldex and they crossed them to their numbers. Parts that I ordered has to be returned. New parts n the way. Lower kit is the 6053.
