AGS problem

I am asking for a friend, who has a 2009 Tour and is having a problem with his AGS. His AGS will start, but it will only run for 15 min, and then shuts off. He thought first it might be his batteries, but has just installed 4 new ones and the problem still exists. If anyone can help I will relay info to him. Thanks in advance for your help.

Does the generator flash any error codes after shutdown ? This would help diagnose the failure.

He states he see's no codes, and that it just stops and then starts up again, runs 15 min and again shuts off.

Has he checked all of his AGS controller settings? Mine can be set for when it starts up (low voltage, high temperature, quiet hours, etc.), and when it shuts down (duration, etc.). It could be doing exactly as it's programmed to do.

Or of course, there could be a problem. Could it be overheating?

Mine works (doesn't work) something like that. I have an EC-30.

It's fine in manual mode, I can start it, let it run as long as I want, and shut it down.

In auto mode, it'll start after a while, run for a few minutes, shut down, and repeat. I forget what the display says, as I recall it didn't explain why it started, or stopped.

My troubleshooting, after I tried a few different settings, led me right past our local Onan folks to Cummins/Onan in Indiana. Tried an email to them, and got a call back. Haven't gotten back to it.

My first thought was that it was likley a program setting also. His runs fine and as long as necessary if started manualy.

I had a similar issue. All I did was disconnect the plug from the back of the ec30 and leave it off for a minute and reconnect. It has worked fine since. Very quick and painless thing to try.

I would check the settings also as I had the same annoying problem and my low turn on setting was too high.

Hmmm, mine turned on before it got to the low setting, and shut off before it got to the high setting. Maybe it doesn't turn on at EXACTLY what you have it set for? Guess I could lowering it and see what happens...
