A&E One Step Awning Problems '02 Adventurer

This awning is on our 2002 Winnie Adventurer. For about 3 years it has been temperamental about extending and retracting but this year it is at it's absolute worst. It will normally extend without problem. But retraction is a chore. If it decides to retract at all it will only go half way and then nothing (including use of the emergency direct to battery connection) will work to complete the retraction unless you wait several HOURS (like overnight) and then start the engine (despite being on campground power and both sets of batteries reading over 13 amps) before pushing the retract button. At this point it will normally work but I had a sleepless night knowing we had to be out of the fully booked campground by noon the next day and I sat with a half retracted awning. I have cleaned the two wire connection just outside the motor with no noticeable success in easing the in/out process. I am now thinking weak motor but willing to entertain any of your thoughts before I have to call a serviceman to make the change. Change = $$$$. Thanks.
