38q Unresponsive slide-out switch

We like our Suncruiser 38Q a lot, and we would buy it again. However, it has a few annoying (and scary) quirks.

The current one is that the system occasionally does not respond when I press the "IN" button on the "ROOM SLIDEOUT" panel. So far we are getting a response after several trial. However I dread the day when this no longer is the case.

Could this be an easy to fix connection problem, or is it a symptom of something more serious?

it's likely one of two problems...a dirty contact on the slide-out switch or on the parking brake switch. be sure the parking brake is engaged. the next time this happens release the parking brake and then re-engage. then try the slide switch.

Make sure your rig is close to level also, I believe if it is not it will not move the slides in either direction.

Had a similar problem with our HWH system. It was the relay switch under the rig that was covered with road crud. After being disassembled and clean up the problem was fixed.

Thanks for the feedback. Resetting the hand break did the trick!

In the 38Q, you have the bed that retracts up the slide out wall. The bed has a switch under the bed that must make contact before the slide will retract. This is a safety switch which prevents closing the slide with the bed down. Slide the bed back down a little and then retract it again. The switch might be out of adjustment keeping the slide from retracting. Your owner's manual talks about the switch. Good luck.

Our 37F has the slide where the bed retracts up and down. If you start having problems with the bed lift it up and check the wires around the pressure switch on the left side up by the top of the bed. Ours had a large bundle of wires running between the contacts of the switch. Sometimes bed would work and at other times it would not. It ending up stripping the gears and breaking the track on the bed. Had to replace entire system under bed. Of course this was a small problem in comparison to having entire full wall slide removed, all motors and gears, and jack screws replaced and then realigned on the tracks that the slide was not setting on.
