2004 adventurer pantry

As a newbe to this mh I find the pantry doesn't seem to open all the way. There is about 6 or 7 inches still behind the wall. Is this normal? I tried to look beside and under but couldn't see anything. I added a photo to try to show the problem.

You should be able to remove it completely. Pull it out until it stops and there should be some catches on the extension slides that you'll push in to release the slides. There may be differences in what and how you push but it should be fairly simple. If it won't come out far enough to do this, something is definitely stopping it.

I have an 02 Adventurer, and mine is pretty much the same... 4"-6" still "inside" of the pantry when fully extended. So I'm guessing it is either designed that way, or you and I both have the same problem.

Certainly is a known problem and often the cause of it not being full length is a vent pipe or furnace tube that restricts one very small piece but you lose the entire use of all the space.

The slide out railings are easily tripped to enable full removal.

When I encountered this before I replaced the rails with longer rails that went right back to the wall, and built my drawer around the pipe. Instead of losing six inches over the total length of the slide, I only lost about six square inches. It took quite a bit of redesign of the drawer affected, but the end result was a huge improvement in available space.

I forgot to mention that my 2002 Itasca Suncruiser (Adventurer sister) is the same. It only pulls out all the way when the slide catches are released. The slide that attaches to the sliding part of the pantry extends several inches into the stationary part unless the catches are released. This is to provide the necessary "full extension" support.

If longer slides were used, at least theoretically, the pantry could be pulled further out. However, if your rig is anything like my 35U, there wouldn't be enough room to do so and still remove the sliding part of the pantry since there's only about 25" clear to the opposing wall.

Ah, I see what you are saying now. Some rails are designed for full extension, some are not. It could be that your unit might carry such a high load that the rail extension is not designed to come all the way out? There are 3/4 extension rails, and they can be replaced with full extension rails.

My experience with full extension slides is that you would still need room to disengage the pantry mounted slide from the cabinet mounted slide. When fully extended, the two sections need to overlap for strength. This means that, either the cabinet mounted slide needs to extend past the cabinet to overlap or the pantry mounted slide needs to extend into the cabinet to overlap. Either way, you'd need more than 25" clear to disengage the two from each other. Therefore I don't think it's a simple replacement project.
