Hi All

I am considering this Tow Car Shield =
Tow Car Shield
Does anyone have this? - Does it work?
If it works - it is cheap.

My toad had some gravel pitting coming through the infamous Confusion Hill Slide.

Thanks
Rick

I made a tow guard for our TOAD. Thread here:

Put 8K last summer no problems, still holding up.

I took the "more is better" approach . . .

- Two-piece front end cover for Scion

- "Tow Gard" windshield protector -- http://www.campingworld.com/browse/s...=7164&src=SRQB

- "Protect-A-Tow" shield -- http://protectatow.tripod.com/

I think the Protect-A-Tow provides the most protection.

The Protect-a-Tow works wonders, wouldn't tow without it. Highly recommend this product, protect's toad, coach and hitch. www.protectatow.com

I recently pickup a Karguard from Blue Ox. It fits well with the aventa II tow bar. It is very easy to attach.

For me I don't want anything flapping or rubbing against the toad (or coach for that matter.) Problems with bras are notorious and fairly common.

We are headed to Alaska this summer and wanted a shield of some sort for the Jeep. Today we purchased the Roadmaster toad shield - I forgot what they called it, it was fairly expensive (over $300) but it will work well with my Roadmaster tow bar and stow nicely.

I have the Roadmaster Guardian and very pleased with it. I have towed a Wrangler and Liberty and never recieved the slightest damage to the front of the toad. It is also simple to put on and off if you have a Roadmaster tow bar.

You guys have made me reconsider the Blue Ox Underskirt purchase in favor of the Blue Ox KarGard

As I have a Blue Ox Alexus towbar, figured I'd do well sticking with a Blue Ox guard...

John,

The Roadmaster Guardian looks good and I am considering one to attach to my Sterling tow bar. However, it doesn't appear to provide any protection for the windshield. I found that a lot of really small gravel gets past my Horizons large mud flap and my windshield is pitted.

Thanks All for some input

One point I wonder about = There was hundreds of small pieces of gravel covering the windshield wipers of my toad (Matrix). This was passing by a heavy rubber shield hanging about 1 - 2" off the ground.
Would a shield by itself protect the windshield?
Any more input by people using either the Tow Guard or protect a tow = do any pebbles end up on the windshield?

Thanks
Rick

I had the Protect-A-Tow on my previous RV, a Class C Minnie Winnie. It worked quite well. However, my current Class A Horizon has the diesel exhaust at the rear bumper, right where the Protect-A-Tow would attach. I don't see how a person could use the Protect-A-Tow with the diesel exhaust issues.

Your protect-a-tow and the Blue Ox skirt look close enough to be cousins...

Just as your '05 Horizon and my '06 Vectra....

I'm thinking I would have the same issues, thanks for the clarification.

Hi LK

Did you see the bottom of this web page:
Blue Ox Shield =
"BX88170

I did have a guardian or something similar which I sold on ebay and got 40 bucks for it. If that's what you're looking for check there first. I found it very cumbersome and difficult to store. Also deflected the stones onto the back of my coach while travelling. I now have a Protect a Tow and I'm very happy with it, folds up very compact, weighs next to nothing. It protects the car the coach, wiring harness and my very expensive tow bar. I also noticed on dusty roads that my back up camera stays much cleaner. It generally takes me alone about 1.5 minutes to hook up, much less if my wife gets off her butt.(hope she doesn't read this)

Thanks Fisherman!

This is the kind of input we all should read!
Do you get ANY gravel/debris on the toad? ?
