GVWR 2002 Suncruiser 35U

The brochure for my 2002 Itasca Suncruiser 35U lists two sets of two numbers for GVWR. One set is for the Ford chassis and one is for the Workhorse chassis, and the two sets are separated by //:

GVWR- Ford//Workhorse (lbs) 20,500/22,000//20,700/22,000

Can someone explain the significance of the two numbers for each chassis?

The GCWR is listed simply as 26,000//26,000

Here's a link to the brochure (see pg 10): https://library.rvusa.com/brochure/02Suncruiserbro.pdf

Looking at the brochure - it seems there is an option for the Front GAWR. Either 7000 or 7500. Not sure how you determine what you have.

Which chassis do you have, Ford or Workhorse?

What they're saying is if it's Ford it's 20,500 or 20,700. Apparently there were 2 options with the Ford chassis.

Workhorse is 22,000. Obviously they only offered the W22 chassis if it's a Workhorse.

I have the W22 but, I think your interpretation is in error. My reading is that both the Ford and Workhorse have two numbers. The // divides Ford and Workhorse (the table clearly shows "Ford//Workhorse") which I read as:

Ford: 20,500/22,000
Workhorse: 20,700/22,000

My motorhome is in storage but I found a photo I took of the Winnebago number tag which clearly shows the GVWR as 20,700 with no reference whatsoever to 22,000. Therefore, I guess my particular vehicle is 20,700 and the 22,000 is for something different. The brochure should have a footnote.

That is my take as well. The 22,000 GVWR applies to the W22 chassis, while the 20,700 GVWR applies to what is generally considered the W20 chassis. The confusing part is that the VIN on both will reflect the W22 designation, as there is no "digit" for W20 in the Workhorse VIN system and the W20 term is not often used. Yours (mine, as well) is kinda like the "Jr" version of the W22.

It looks like 4x4van is correct. Once I knew about the W20/W24 issue, I was able to find threads on IRV2 and Winnie Owners on the same subject. They describe the W20 as having load range F tires and the W22 as having load range G tires. There seems to be some differing opinions as to whether or not 19.5" or 22.5" wheels are also a determining factor (although the two wheel sizes do have differing axle ratios).

We travel pretty light since we've come to motorhomes from a 25' trailer with a 1/2 ton pickup, and hope to keep it that way, so I'm not too concerned about my 20,700 vs the 22,000 for the W24. The good news for me is that both have a GAWR of 26,000 lbs since I will be pulling a toad.

Here's one of the links I found on this topic:

Thanks everyone!

I believe that's correct, now that I reread the information.
The 26000 is the GCWR (Combined for vehicle and tow. Your hitch is still important as well (it's weight rating and proper installation).
I believe the 26k number is pretty common across sever chassis makers. It is the weight where several states draw the line crossing to CDL ratings.

I had to buy new tires so I went with Load Range G tires to be on the safe side. By doing so, I guess I've essentially upgraded my W20 to a W22 with 19.5" wheels.
