flat towing with 24 ft trend, 1 1/4 hitch

We want to flat tow a smart car. It weighs 1808 lbs. Hitch rating is 2000, vert wt 200. The dodge v-6 front wheel drive also has a towing option.Leaning towards the roadmaster base plate and one of their ball mount tow bars. We are newbies to rv'ing and find it too our liking. Any advice would be welcome.
