Do these skirts work

Need to protect my toad but don't want to invest hundreds of dollars for my inexpensive toad. So I was looking at these. https://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/...guards_92-1495 Do these work or are they just a gimmick?

I have a rear guard made from recycled tires, the UltraGuard, also under $ 100. They sell a mounting angle iron bar for it that saves time, so you don't have to buy material and make your own. Works well for me. If you go with UltraGuard be sure to trim the bottom of it so that when at driving height, it clears the ground beneath it by 4" or slightly more. Less ground clearance than that and the air flowing under it stirs up small rocks and it's worse than nothing.

That discussion has been ongoing for some time. I have a large guard on the rear of ours and swear by it, but many do not. I think the problem may be that some are mounted too low and as a result scrape up stones from the road and make the situation worse. Ours is mounted so that on the highway it is a good eight inches off the surface. I have had no problems with rock chips.

Another for UltraGuard. Been on there for a dozen years and works great. We've never had an issue with rock chips or dirt on a toad.

From what I've read, the amount of overhang behind your rear tires affects things as well. If you have a fairly long overhang and standard mud flaps behind your rear wheels, you might not need such a guard. Any rocks that are kicked up would hit the bottom of your overhang and not be a problem. Typically Diesel pushers do not have long overhangs and have a bigger rock problem.

I use the Kar Gard II from Blue Ox and it works well. Mind you that nothing is 100% preventative.
