Thousand Trails Collection

Heads up for anyone not aware of Thousand Trails' special offer...we are zone pass holders and recently added additional parks for $199. We are out on the East coast for 3 months....the parks we have camped at so far are very good, most with FHU. Now with the trails collection add on, there are a ton of new parks available to us including a bunch in neighboring Wisconsin.

Thousand Trails has worked out very well for us...this is our 2nd season using the zone pass. The online reservation system is awesome. Their staff on the phone and in the parks are awesome people.

This is a really good deal folks!

We do travel Sept-Nov...that's one of the reasons this works so well for us. Not sure how viable it would be during peak travel months of July-August.

We bought a "used" national pass earlier this year and recently added the Trails Collection. The first Encore park we stayed at (in NC) under the Trails Collection was unimpressive and probably 98% seasonal rentals with little care to "modifications" made to sites so it was all sorts of messed up. That said the TC opened up about 36 camps for us this winter in Florida alone.

We're basically full timing with Thousand Trails now and are booked until Dec 31 here in Florida between TC and TT parks. The beauty of the 2 plans is that we don't have any "out" time requirements now. We can spend 2 weeks at TT then move directly to TC parks with no out of network time added. The plan is to pull out early in the spring and do some more traveling of the country.

Thoughts on seasonals...
Every seasonal is a camper NOT competing with transients for campsites in other locales.

Seasonals "pay the bills." A seasonal site at Lake and Shore is $5,800 on the Jersey shore.

It's all about expectations.

We have the Southwest single zone TT. Went to CA this summer. Stayed at Ponderosa NE of Sacramento. It maybe good once the repairs are done and management gets replaced. Then stayed at Lake minden. Told by management I had to park my ATV trailer in storage and then I would have to pay for using the storage area. We left! Lastly, we stayed at the Yosemite TT. Great place and great staff. Pretty sure we'll not re-up. Also, TT has changed. Anybody can pay to stay at a TT now.

We are currently parked for 14 days at TT Orlando.
This is among the largest RV parks in the TT system. Spacious sites, new pools, dog park, great staff. Very clean. Some damage from Irma but mostly recovered. Rec hall is closed due to flooding. TT zone pass hard to beat...we couldn't do this without it. Oct great time to visit Florida, not hot and no snowbird flocks yet.

Back in Orlando for 2 weeks and see lots of upgrades going on. They're adding 175+ sites and have repaved part of the park, updated some of the bathrooms etc. We bought an "Elite" contract from another party and waiting for it to transfer over to us so we can switch from the Zone pass to the "Elite" with no time out and a 120 day booking window. Getting a lot of use (not FT) from our TT membership. We do stay at state parks and KOAs too, and those run anywhere from $30-$60 night.

I’m at Palm Springs TTO now. We’ve decided that we’re staying out West this year and booked into Voyager for 3 months. That will be a first for us. We bounced between TTO and Clearmont this last winter. That’s a pretty nice TC park. Once you’re off the zone pass and onto the Elite park-to-park you will be able to to from one to the other with no out time. If you don’t have the TC it’s worth the cost of admission down there. We’ve not made it into Lake Magic yet but have done Sherwood on the other end of 192. I hear that the site you get at the one close to Sherwood (name escapes me) aren’t that good for the TC so we don’t go to that park. Have also stayed in Lutz at the TV park there and the TC park in Largo is pretty close to our house so we go there too. We personally don’t enjoy Peace River TT park but have been there a few times. It’s “out there”.
