Hi Group:
We are looking at RV parks in south Fla. for a two to three month stay this winter. I know this is the peak time, for rentals in the area, so we are looking for suggestions on RV resort parks. Would like to stay in. Two or three areas. In the Keys, around Miami, and around Tampa. Any help welcomed.
Michael
Check out Zephyrhills area (37 m to Tampa) and Punta Gorda (25 M to Ft Myers). Both have good parks and plenty of shops and restaurants. Punta is on the Gulf and will be more expensive. The Thousand Trails park in Punta Gorda (Gulf View) is a meticulously maintained park right on a canal. It is walking distance to a major grocery store and strip center. Very well managed with activities. Bikeable into town, very nice area. Now would be the time to try to get reservations for next winter, and not cheap. Alligator Park in Punta also worth looking at.
You are going to find the pickings in the Keys both slim and pricey if you haven't already reserved. The further south you go the tighter the availability annd the higher the cost. A little further north and west will probably be better. I'd check some of the other boards like RV net and IRV2 and search for "snowbirds" they often have a good handle on the issue.
