    Hello Area 51. I will try to be a bit more helpful than the previous post.
    Sounds like the points in the switch have welded themselves together. You can either remove the bulb or the switch and taping up the ends of the wires to prevent them from shorting out. you can also try cleaning the connectors in the switch. If that does not work, order a new switch. Good luck.

    Sorry that my previous post wasn't helpful, but he was asking why the manual says the light stays on all the time. I'd think that only Norcold can answer the "why" of it.

    Sorry. i miss read area51s post and with what it actually says I agree with you. Kind of curious as to why it would be on on purpose myself now.
